The National Senior Games Association (NSGA) announced they will host the National Senior Games in Greater Des Moines from July 24-August 4, 2025. The NSGA promotes the benefits of competitive sports, physical fitness, and active aging to adults 50 years and older. The National Senior Games is the largest multi-sport championship event in the world for adults 50 and over, typically drawing more than 10,000 qualified athletes from every state and beyond to compete in more than 20 sports.
Athletes must qualify to participate in the National Senior Games. For most sports, athletes qualify by placing in the top four of their age group at a qualifying State Senior Games. For certain sports, athletes qualify either by place or by minimum performance standards (MPS).
This summer, Columbus is hosting Ohio’s qualifying state senior games. Track events will be held on June 15 at Westerville Central High School. The national games include a 5K and 10K. Athletes can qualify by participating in a verifiable local race.
The RUNColumbus Race Series is holding a virtual meeting for athletes interested in learning more about the National and State Senior Games. Kent Bragg, Ohio Senior Olympic board member, and RUNColumbus participant, will present and answer questions.
Join us on February 21 at 7 p.m. to learn how you can go for the gold in 2025. A Google Meet link will be sent to those RSVPing via a meeting invitation.
