Today we kick off a weekly series spotlighting some of the many awesome people who are part of the running community at large including runners, runners-turned-walkers, triathletes, etc. volunteers, race directors, and more. Getting us started is Lisa Davis.⠀

Hi, I’m Lisa Davis. I have a seven-year-old son, James, and a four-year-old daughter, Ruthie. ⠀

Why did you start running?⠀I started running when I was in high school because I sucked at every other sport but I wanted to be a cool athlete. All it took was one cross country race to get me hooked!⠀

Favorite thing about running?⠀My favorite thing about running has changed throughout the years as I’ve been in different phases of life. Currently, my favorite thing about running is how it positively affects my mental health.⠀

Favorite race(s) in Central Ohio?⠀
Although I do a lot of racing outside of Central Ohio, my favorite local races have been the Columbus 10K, the New Albany Independence Day 5K, and the Powell Turkey Trot.

What advice would you give to someone just getting started?⠀
Comparison is the thief of joy. Remember why you started running and embrace all that comes with it.⠀
