Meet RUNColumbus team member Catherine Derrow. Catherine is married to Solomon Derrow and has three kids – Dovi (17), Gabi (16), and Rafi (13), and two French bulldogs, Remi and Sunny.
Why/when did you start running? I started running in my early 30s, and began doing 5k races regularly, and enjoyed the fun of racing and seeing improvements. I continued running on and off through the years, but seriously increased my mileage and commitment to running during COVID as a way of coping with stress and finding a way to exercise when gyms were closed. I found a new love for running and have continued to run and challenge myself with new goals.
What is your favorite aspect(s) of running? I really love finding new routes to run. I look for new neighborhoods, paths, and parks to run in all the time. I have also begun doing more trail training running and it’s a challenge in Columbus to find hills and trails, but I love when I do!
What excites you about being part of the RUNColumbus Race Series and Team? I love the atmosphere of a race and am excited to have a series of events to look forward to over the year!
Catherine is currently training for her first ultra-distance – a 50K in the Black Hills of South Dakota in June. She will incorporate some of the RUNColumbus races as part of her training. Catherine is also running the Pittsburgh Marathon in May.
