From a festive Thursday-night 5K to cycling for a cause, racing inside a stadium, and competing in the Ohio Senior Olympics, Team RUNColumbus was represented across Central Ohio throughout the weekend.
Different events. Different goals. One active and encouraging community.
An Irish-Inspired Start
The weekend began Thursday evening at the Dublin Irish Festival 5K, where Team RUNColumbus helped kick off a busy few days of movement and competition.
The festive atmosphere, energetic crowd, and Irish Festival backdrop made it a fun summer race night. Congratulations to Barbara, who won the 70+ age group!
Riding for a Bigger Purpose
On Saturday, Team RUNColumbus traded running shoes for bicycles as Johnetta, Sam, Jason, and Kathy participated in Pelotonia Ride Weekend.
Pelotonia brings thousands of riders together to support innovative cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center—James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
Their miles represented far more than a physical challenge. Each ride carried purpose, hope, and a commitment to helping create a future without cancer.
We are proud of Johnetta, Sam, Jason, and Kathy for representing Team RUNColumbus during such a meaningful weekend.
School Spirit at the Hornets 5K
Sunday brought the third annual Licking Heights Hornets 5K, beginning and ending inside Hornets Stadium.
Cheerleaders welcomed participants, the marching band filled the stadium with energy, and the entire morning offered a reminder that fall—and another season of Friday-night lights—is just around the corner.
Team RUNColumbus athletes also recorded several outstanding finishes. John placed second overall, Jonathon finished third overall, and Carolyn was the second overall female finisher.
A special thank-you goes to our teammate Diana, founder and race director of the event, for delivering another well-executed and well-supported race. Her commitment to the Licking Heights community was evident from the starting line to the final finish.
Continuing to Compete
Team RUNColumbus was also represented at the Ohio Senior Olympics by Patti, Erica, and Chris, demonstrating that the drive to train, compete, and pursue new challenges does not have an expiration date.
Their participation reflects an important part of the RUNColumbus spirit: keep moving, keep setting goals, and keep showing others what is possible.
One Team, Many Ways to Move
Running. Cycling. Racing. Competing. Supporting important causes and local communities.
This weekend captured the many ways Team RUNColumbus athletes challenge themselves and encourage one another. Whether the finish line was on a city street, inside a stadium, at the end of a long bicycle route, or on an Olympic competition field, our teammates showed up.
That is what this community is all about.
Let’s RUNColumbus TOGETHER.
