A busy mom of four daughters is this week’s featured runner.

Hi, my name is Dawn McMahon, and I am married to my high school sweetheart Brian. Together we have four wonderful daughters ages 3-12 and two dogs.

Why did you start running? I started running in 2012 after experiencing postpartum depression and realizing I needed an outlet and some time carved out for myself.

Favorite thing about running? I love the endorphins, quiet time, and community that running provides. It is the only time of the day that really feels like MY time in which to worship, hear from God, and catch up on my favorite podcasts.

Favorite race(s) in Central Ohio? My first half was Cap City, so that will always be special to me, but I also really love the Ohio State Four Miler. Finishing on the 50-yard line is pretty sweet and such a fun thing to share with my family!

What advice would you give someone just getting started? My advice would be to run for you and no one else. Don’t worry about pace or comparison or expect every run to be better than the last. Find people who will encourage you along the way and just have fun.
