Muddy.
Foggy.
Snowy.
Icy.
There is officially nothing ordinary about race day in the inaugural RUNColumbus Trail Series.
Race #2 of Rocks & Roots at Alum Creek State Park delivered a full winter experience for our 10K–50K athletes — slick roots, hidden ice patches, swirling fog, and stretches of snow that were as breathtaking as they were relentless.
And still… they showed up for it.
From the 10K runners navigating technical footing to the 50K athletes grinding through lap after lap of ever-changing terrain, this day wasn’t about perfect pacing. It was about adaptability. Patience. Grit. Community.
A special congratulations to Maria (1st, 50–59) and Barbara (1st, 70+) for winning their age groups in the 10K. What an incredible representation of strength and longevity on a day that demanded both.
We’re learning something powerful in year one of this trail series: trail racing doesn’t promise predictable conditions. It promises adventure.
And honestly… isn’t the adventure what it’s all about?
Huge respect to every athlete, volunteer, and crew member who embraced the elements and made it unforgettable.
