Meet RUNColumbus team member Becca Rohner. Becca and her boyfriend for 10+ years, Carl Voellmecke, is also a runner and together their hashtag is #lifeofarunningcouple. Becca is the Vice President of The Columbus Westside Running Club, which turned six in January. The clubs is all about movement, no matter if you are walking or running ultramarathons. Make sure to visit their website and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.

Why/when did you start running? Starting running to lose weight; actually trained for my first half marathon on a treadmill back in 2009 ( I didn’t know anything about running then!). I took a small break, then was going through a divorce in 2011, and running helped me through those times. I run for therapy and for the way I feel after. It truly is a huge part of my life and I plan to run as long as my body will let me. I’ve run three marathons, two 50K’s, a 46 miler (Find your Limit 2021), and 16 or so half marathons. The goal is to be injury-free and just keep running!

What is your favorite aspect(s) of running? The friendships that I have made throughout the years. Running has gotten me through some tough times but has always been there for me when I need it. Being part of a run club brings me joy and the people that it has brought into my life are wonderful!

What excites you about being part of the RUNColumbus Race Series and Team? I’m excited to start racing again! It’s been a while since I’ve raced due to the pandemic, and am looking forward to running some newer (to me) races as well!
