Athlete Spotlight: Lee Hoxworth

Lee Hoxworth is new to the RUNColumbus Race Series and brings a powerful story of growth, resilience, and momentum to the community. Using a run-walk approach, Lee enjoys a wide range of distances—from the 5K to the half marathon—and continues to build confidence and consistency with each race.

What excites Lee most about joining RUNColumbus is the community. After years of completing races—mostly 5Ks—Lee has become more deeply involved in the Columbus running scene and is eager to connect with others who share that passion. The welcoming, supportive nature of RUNColumbus is what drew Lee in.

Over the past two years, Lee’s running journey has expanded dramatically. After undergoing gastric bypass surgery and losing over 200 pounds, Lee began pushing toward new goals. In 2025, that growth led to completing the first two half marathons—Cap City in April (on Lee’s birthday) and the Nationwide Children’s event in the fall.

This season, Lee was also selected as a race ambassador with M3SSports, further deepening involvement in the local racing community. Looking ahead, Lee’s goals are focused on improving training, continuing to grow as a runner, and building meaningful connections within the running community.

Lee’s journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when determination meets support—and Team RUNColumbus is proud to be part of what’s next.
