The second race of the two-race winter series delivered a dramatic shift in conditions, as the Fantastic Frigid 5K lived up to its name on January 24. Unlike the earlier race this month that greeted runners with unseasonably mild temperatures, this one brought true winter racing—cold air, frozen ground, and the kind of conditions that test both preparation and resolve.
Team RUNColumbus embraced the challenge and turned in an impressive day of racing. Phil finished 2nd Overall, while Charlotte and Carolyn led the women’s field with 1st and 3rd Overall finishes.
Age group victories were claimed by Erin (30–39), David (40–49), Patrick (50–59), and Noemi (60–69). In one of the day’s standout moments, husband-and-wife duo Fred and Barbara both captured 70+ age group wins, showcasing longevity, consistency, and competitive spirit.
With another strong winter race in the books, the series continues on February 1 with the 5th Line 5K—another chance to test fitness, earn points, and race TOGETHER through the winter months.
