With full hearts, we are proud to recognize Sam Fahmi as the 2025 recipient of the peer-selected Spirit of RUNColumbus Award.
This award is reserved for someone who embodies the very soul of our community — individual empowerment, healthy competition, support of one another, and inclusion of all. Sam is all of that and more.
Sam has a remarkable way of lifting others up. He reminds us, often without even realizing it, that doing our best — whatever that looks like on a given day — is enough. Through honesty and hope, he shares his own journey, showing us that setbacks are simply part of the story and that we always have the chance to try again. While he may not chase the fastest times, Sam gives everything he has every time, and that heart inspires all of us.
He is one of the most welcoming souls on Team RUNColumbus. Whether you’re brand new or a longtime teammate, Sam makes sure you feel seen, included, and supported. Even when he’s not racing, he shows up — camera in hand, smile on his face — capturing moments, cheering at the finish, and offering high fives to teammates and strangers alike. When you spot Sam on the course, you just feel better.
Sam brings out the best in others. He’ll slow down to help someone finish, offer encouragement when legs get heavy, and say just the right words when a race gets hard. He makes sure no one gets left behind — and that is the true spirit of this team.
This honor joins a meaningful legacy of past recipients:
• Jeanine Foster (2022)
• Kristin Roeckpe (2023)
• Keith Woods (2024)
Sam — our cheerleader, listener, photographer, and encourager — thank you for being such a gift to this community. We are better because of you.
Congratulations, Sam Fahmi, our 2025 Spirit of RUNColumbus Award recipient.
